Philip Kaufman will be holding a Master Class at this years Cannes Film Festival along with a screening of his new film Hemingway & Gellhorn.

I would LOVE to be at Cannes this year to not only hear Phil speak, but see H&G in all it’s film glory.  Last time I saw it was one of the early edits where it was about 3 hours long.  After that, I worked on the Visual Effects over at Tippett and got to see all the VFX magic being made by the guys and gals at Tippett under the eye of VFX Sup CMO (Chris Morley).

If you are in France, do yourself a favour and listen to Phil talk.  He is a pioneer with vision and a love for film and its craft.  He is a true film artist.  Someone I am lucky to now, thanks to H&G, know.

The Hemingway & Gellhorn Trailer is out!

Most of my 2011 was dedicated to this film, from previz all the way through to final comps… it is great that HBO have released the trailer.  Even better, two of my shots are in it… (see the above pic… it is a greenscreen on stock footage)

Hemingway & Gellhorn

In two weeks.. I will be starting my new job on Philip Kaufman’s Hemingway & Gellhorn as VFX Assistant.  It has been a long time in the planning and organising but it has finally happened and all is looking golden.

I have been so lucky to have been involved so far and so moving there full time on a feature production is going to blow my mind.

My current work, WESTERNIZED, have been so understanding and helpful accommodating my days over at Hemingway.  WESTERNIZED is worth it’s weight in gold and the best place I have ever worked, so it will be sad to leave, but thankfully, they are only a 10 minute ride and a drunken stumble home away…
