Hey guys. I decided to start uploading some python goodies that I wrote and enjoy using. On of these days, I’ll upload them all as a set, but for now, stay tuned, and all sorts of gizmos and python will find its way here.

Philip Kaufman will be holding a Master Class at this years Cannes Film Festival along with a screening of his new film Hemingway & Gellhorn.
I would LOVE to be at Cannes this year to not only hear Phil speak, but see H&G in all it’s film glory.  Last time I saw it was one of the early edits where it was about 3 hours long.  After that, I worked on the Visual Effects over at Tippett and got to see all the VFX magic being made by the guys and gals at Tippett under the eye of VFX Sup CMO (Chris Morley).
If you are in France, do yourself a favour and listen to Phil talk.  He is a pioneer with vision and a love for film and its craft.  He is a true film artist.  Someone I am lucky to now, thanks to H&G, know.

Deep Compositing in Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Great explanation of Deep Compositing in live action…

Little extension I made today, shot on set last week.
It was a portrait, now it is landscape…

RenderQ = VFXers GOLDhttp://www.andrewandoru.com/2010/05/25/labs-renderq/
Andrew Andoru (his name has to be a japanese play on words) has been making the best Nuke/AE/Maya/General crap you need applets and everyone should know about them!
These are MUST haves for any motion/compositor as they are just amazing timesavers.
Best thing is that they are FREE (although he does take donations, so donate!).

I love working…
I am back into keying in nuke at the moment and I must say, I love my baby.  Nuke is still so beautiful to work with and so easy to try out ways of fixing the problems.
Nuke = worth it’s weight in gold…
Which makes nuke GOLD!

So the fact that we can only open one After Effects windo has killed me since I first found After Effects…
While working today… Bryan Woods (http://www.deltawavefx.com) dropped into conversation this little doozy!
To open more than one After Effects window in MAC

Sometimes something comes along and reminds you how beautiful things can be.  This short is basically a movie of buildings, beautiful places shot in beautiful ways, but one of the things that blows me away is that it reminds me of when you walk into a beautiful place and your mouth drops… a little smile comes and you are in heaven.

And then you find out that this beautifully made short is…. unbelievably all cg….
watch it and fall in love with design again…. fall in love with buildings…. loose your breathe.
